December ATCA "Happenings"

This is a new feature added to the website to provide ATCA members and nonmembers information. This column will be updated monthly and will include current ATCA Board activities, ATCA correspondence, events and special notices. Contact Shirley VanOver, ATCA Secretary at svairedale@aol.com.   • The American Airedale will be sent out shortly, so look for it to arrive before the end of the year.
  • The ATCA Board minutes from October 3, October 6, October 18, and November 8 will be on the website by mid-December listed under Member Only Documents. All current ATCA Board correspondence is also listed under the Member Only Document section for viewing.
  • Many members of the ATCA Board and ATCA membership attended and participated in the Eukanuba Invitational in Long Beach, CA. Congratulations to: Best of Breed: Samantha Curran and Dick Berg for Ch. Evermay's High Performance, Best of Opposite: Patricia Gregg for Ch. Avalon's Bluacre Legacy, Best of Bred by: Frank Stevens for Ch. Devonshire's Celtic Pride, and Award of Excellence: Susan Kipp and Marilyn Jacobs for Ch. Huntwood's Wildest Performance.

Agility was well represented by Cheryl Sackmann and Gala for their first invitational. Deanna Corboy-Lulik and Kaleigh who earned High Airedale Terrier for the second year in a row at the Invitational. Kim Zaborniak and 9 year old Diablo.

Obedience and Rally were represented by: Linda Coates and Suzanne Tharpe.

  • Make sure and mark your calendars for Friday, July 25, 2008. The Great Lakes Floater will be held in Oconomowoc, WI on that date. For more information on all the events for that weekend contact Mareth Kipp at fkipp@centurytel.net. Look for the Great Lakes Floater Cookbook, one of the fundraisers for this event, on the front page of the website. The button leads to a fast and easy way to order the cookbooks along with the contact, Stephen Lehrer at hardknott@wi.net.com.
  • Plans are being finalized for Montgomery County 2008 which include special days of Agility, Obedience, Rally, Sweeps, and our National Specialty held by the Montgomery County Kennel Club. This is a great weekend to celebrate our breed, their versatility and getting together with fellow Airedale Terrier lovers. More information next month on the schedule but it all begins October 1, 2008. Mark your calendars for this extraordinary week of Airedale Terrier activities.

  • Our new host hotel for the Montgomery County Activities 2008 is the Holiday Inn at Bensalem, PA. This is a convenient hotel to all the venues. More information on how to reserve your room will be available next month with additional information on the many activities to be held during this week.
  • The ATCA Secretary received information regarding a Terriers Only Performance Summit - A Celebration of Terriers to be held in Greenley, Colorado May 16-29, 2008. For more information on the event go to www.TOPS2008.net
  • ATCA Shopping at www.shopping.airedale.org has added new ideas for the holiday season. If you are looking for that special "Airedale" gift for an Airedale lover, check out this site for new and unique items. For all you Woolie-Dale lovers, we will have an exclusive ATCA website shopping Woolie-Dale offered starting in January. This will be a mother and pup.
  • ATCA Shopping is also offering DVD's of Montgomery Weekend 2007. These DVD's are recordings of activities covered at Agility, Obedience/Rally, Sweeps and MCKC. Check out www.shopping.airedale.org and order the whole set or individual venues.
  • The new committee, "ATCA Hunting & Field" is forming. The Chair is Karen Copley at airetail@aol.com. Contact her if you wish to be involved in this new committee and its activities.

  • The ATCA Directors, Officers and Committees for 2008 will be updated shortly on the website on the front page drop down.
  • ATCA is in the process of updating our Calendar of Events that is on the website. Contact Janet Framke at gma16300@aol.com if you have any information that she needs to put up for 2008.
