  • The ATCA Obedience/Rally and Agility Committee have teamed up to celebrate our performance Airedales with a new fundraiser. Items depicting Airedales in a great design by Mike McCartney CAN BE SEEN HERE. The premium list for the ATCA Obedience/Rally Trials during Montgomery weekend are posted on the website or contact Nancy Foster at nfoster1080@sbcglobal.net for more information.
  • The ATCA Agility Committee would like to invite all Airedales to participate in or attend and support fellow Airedalers at the Montgomery All Terrier Agility Trials September 29-30, October 1-2, 2009. The exciting FAST class will be offered Tuesday-Thursday, while Standard and JWW classes will be offered all 4 days. SEE PREMIUM LIST HERE. Spectator admission and parking are FREE.   • Win, win, Win! Join the fun, buy your tickets for the "2009 Fine Arts & More Raffle". Wouldn't you love to grace your home with a beautiful original painting of your dog? Noted artist, Leslie Apple, with her passion for painting pets, people and personalities is just the person that can do that very thing for you. Next, come along and experience a charming not - your- usual garden sculpture "Pipe Dreams" by Kenneth Cook. Kenneth's yard art is a piece of garden magic that can be a great accent indoors or out inspired by a North Star.   • Check out the Members Only section for all club minutes, correspondence, guidelines, financial reports, etc.
  • Reservations for lodging for the Montgomery County weekend are being accepted at the host hotel, The Hyatt Summerfield Suites in Plymouth Meeting, PA. All rooms are suites with a living area which includes a sleeper sofa and a fully equipped kitchen. For reservations call 610-313-9990 and ask for the Airedale Terrier Club of America block. Information on other hotels in the area and all plans for the weekend will be on the website soon. Rooms are filling quickly, make your reservations early.
  • The ATCA H/F Committee is proud to announce that an application has been made to hold the ATCA's first ever licensed Spaniel Hunting Test as part of the Montgomery County National Specialty Weekend. Pending approval of the Parent Club to hold this monumental event by the AKC Performance Department, the committee looks forward to presenting this pioneering first. Although Airedales have been approved to run in Spaniel Hunt Tests starting July 1st, 2009, the event scheduled for Friday, October 2nd and Saturday October 3rd, 2009 will be the first AKC Licensed Spaniel Hunt Tests to be sponsored by ATCA. Premium lists are available on the website or from the event secretary, Kenneth Cook at pmac470@verizon.net or by calling 972-986-6651.
  • The ATCA Hunting and Field Committee wants to remind all Airedale enthusiasts that effective July 1st, 2009 Airedales may enter AKC Spaniel Hunting Tests and earn qualifying scores toward their AKC Spaniel Hunting Titles. To find a Spaniel Hunt Test go to the AKC website http://www.akc.org/events/search/ From the drop-down menu under 'Competition Type' select 'Hunting Test', select the desired 'Time Range' from the drop down menu, click on the desired State or States on the interactive map and click the "Search" button. Even if you and your Airedale are not ready to enter a test, attending as an observer is a first step in understanding what is involved in the tests. In addition you will make valuable contacts in the Spaniel world and learn about training opportunities. The AKC has a new brochure "Introduction to Spaniel Hunt Tests" that is also helpful.
  • ATCA would like to congratulate Mark and Karen Werner of West Bend, WI for making Airedale history in having the first Airedales to qualify for the AKC Spaniel Hunting Titles. See the attached on the AKC website.
  • The Airedale Terrier Club of Metro NY is holding a fall Specialty and Sweeps on September 6. Judge: Kathleen Ferris and Sweeps Chris Nance. For more info contact: Dave Morgan at evadnagrom@aol.com.
  • The ATCA Board has approved to have a supported entry for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship held December 12th and 13th in Long Beach, CA. This will be an open event this year and all registered AKC Airedales can compete. More information for this event CAN BE SEEN HERE.
  • The ATCA Officers and Directors received many letters after the Westminster Dog Show in February concerning the exclusion of the Airedale Terrier in judging in the Group. Attached is the letter that was sent to the Westminster Kennel Club in hopes that they will review their policies and procedures when a conflict of interest between a handler and judge occurs in the future.   • Upon approval from the ATCA Board, our legislative advocate, Barbara McNeil has sent a letter to the AVMA concerning tail docking and ear cropping. Please see attached for our letter. Please send all your letters in regards to this legislation to the attached recipient. SEE LETTER HERE.
  • Dues notices have now been sent out to all ATCA members. If you have any questions regarding your renewal, please contact our Treasurer, Pamela Macomber at pmac470@verizon.net.
  • Ads for the MCKC catalog are due to Bonnie Peterson by August 16.
