- Ch. Evermay's High Performance owned and bred by Samantha Curran and Richard Berg won his 52nd BIS at the Eastern Dog Club in MA in December. Max is only the 4th Airedale to win this prestigious show since 1912. The last Airedale to win was Bengal Bahadur in 1963. Max has retired from the show ring and will be back home living with Samantha and Dick. Congratulations to Max and his owners for a glorious career and wonderful history to our breed.
- The Great Lakes Floater is approaching. Make sure and make your plans to attend this great weekend full of agility, obedience/rally, sweeps and conformation. The floater date is July 25, 2008 but contact Mareth Kipp at fkipp@centurytel.net for all the weekend events. To make reservations for the host hotel and specialty show site for the Friday ATCA specialty show and Obedience trial, please call the Olympia Resort Hotel and Conference Center in Oconomowoc, WI at 262-567-0311 under ATCA. All events start on Thursday, July 23 with hospitality. There will also be an Upland Hunt Test held on Thursday, July 24 contact Karen Copley at airetail@aol.com for more information.
- Sad news: Dr. Otto Hanniball-Friedrich a long time German member, died on September 17, 2007.
- As a new year begins, so does our regional specialty calendar: The Lone Star Airedale Terrier Club will be having their Specialty on March 21, 2008 in conjunction with the Texas Combined Specialties Association and the Ft. Worth Kennel Club. For more information concerning this event please contact: Lynn Rickman at therickmans@onlineisp.net or check at www.lsatc.com .
- Check out the new Woolie-Dale featuring Mom and Pup on the ATCA website shopping cart at http://shopping.airedale.org.
- Don't forget to make your Montgomery hotel reservations. The host hotel is the Holiday Inn at Bensalem, PA. The phone number for the hotel is: 215-638-1500 and you may request reservations under ATCA. - There are lots of plans being made for activities concerning Obedience/Rally for the Montgomery 2008 weekend. More details will be announced as they become available, but if you have any questions concerning this weekend or would like to volunteer to help contact Linda Coates at whodunitky@bellsouth.net.
- ATCA will be sponsoring two days of agility at the Montgomery 2008 weekend. More details on this will be announced shortly but if you have any questions or want to volunteer your time to this event, contact Kimberly Zaborniak at kimzab9@insight.rr.com.
- There has been a new printing of the brochure "Grooming the Broken Haired Terrier." The brochure has been updated with a new title "Grooming the Broken-Coated Terrier", new photos and drawings. You can order your new copy of this brochure from the ATCA shopping cart at http://shopping.airedale.org.
- Don't forget about the Terriers Only Performance Summit in Greeley, CO May 16-19, 2008. The ATCA Board recently approved a donation to this event in support for the overall prizes for the weekend.
- Don't forget to purchase your Montgomery County 2007 Weekend DVD's. These DVD's include all the events at Montgomery weekend including: Agility, Obedience and Rally, Hatboro Sweeps and Regular classes and MCKC classes and Best of Breed. Order through the ATCA shopping cart at http://shopping.airedale.org. Order the complete set or select the DVD's involving your special interest.
- We have a few members under the weather right now and would appreciate some get well wishes during this time. They are: Dee Leahy Fellenz, Dottie Boeving and Regina Foley. Their addresses are listed in the roster.
- Dick Schlicht is working on the 2008 roster and it should be out shortly.
- Minutes of all Board meetings to date are listed on the website.
- The ATCA Hunting and Field Committee is busy preparing for new events for the 2008 year. Information on these activities can be obtained from Karen Copley at airetail@aol.com.
- The 2007-2008 ATCA Committees are now posted on the website.
